Six months ago, 2xParked’s stated objective was to translate our New York City lives into data. Although it started with the MayorModel, a reminder that politics impacting our day-to-day lives do not end with the federal election, it continues with the suggestions and ideas from readers. (Reminder: do not hesitate to ask any question regarding NYC. I will do my best to answer in the form of data. 2xParked@gmail.com).
Additionally, if you liked the artwork created for 2xParked, you can get similarly amazing custom drawings very easily. Check out Ink&thyme on Facebook and on Instagram.
The past six months have been exhausting in New York City. With 1/3 of New Yorkers fully vaccinated and more than 1/2 with at least one shot, there are tangible signs we are climbing out of this. To celebrate, 2xParked has shared its highlights. Enjoy!
The Past 6 Months
MayorModel
This week might indicate the first potential shakeup of our established top-8 due to sexual assault allegations directed towards the early progressive favorite, Scott Stringer. I have been asked several times how this might impact the primary race since no new polls have been released since allegations were made public.
I believe the candidate who might benefit the most is Eric Adams. As we saw in the latest NY1/Ipsos Poll (the latest decent poll), Adams and Stringer were neck-and-neck to get to the final round of RCV. Stringer is a mayoral favorite due to trust earned by a long elected history as opposed to his policy stances. Although Wiley and Morales might individually get a disproportionate share of votes from Stringer because of similar politics, please remember that character is more indicative of representation than policy. This means that not all lost votes will go in the same direction, and the math will further be in Adams’ favor to finish in the top-2 with Yang.
